Toni Evans grew up in New York and is the youngest of a family

of 5. Ever since she was little, Toni was always creating some

kind of art. Toni graduated from college with a fine arts degree

and a minor in art history. A few years after graduating, Toni

was diagnosed with bipolar disease, anxiety, ocd, and

schizo-effective disorder. Art became so much more important

and a form of therapeutic release. Toni has used such mediums

as oil paint, stained glass, clay and photography but has truly

connected with using acrylic paints, sometimes using nails and

string or wire to create her paintings.

“My art is very personal which I express through color, texture and placement of brush strokes. I hope people enjoy it as much as I enjoy creating it.”, Toni Evans

A common theme in most of Toni’s work is about living with bipolar. It is a disease that is very misunderstood and is usually very personal, private, causing you to turn inward. She hopes she can make at least one viewer feel a tiny bit of what it’s like, to educate, to feel an emotion or even a little uncomfortable. Painting so maybe someone will see a piece of her and in turn maybe see a piece of themselves.

Don’t let fear hold you back

If there is something you want to know, always ask, if you don’t ask you’ll never know

Life is short don’t take yourself so seriously

Try to have fun

Learn something new everyday

Most recently Toni had a solo show at the brand new Charlotte Art League and also has shown her work at other shows there, Morresvilles Art where she was named Artist of the Month for July 2022, 311 Gallery, Cameron Museum of Art, CAIN Center For The Arts, South End Art League, TAC Gallery, The WoodenStone Gallery and Foster Frame and Art Gallery.
